PASCAL LSP Initiative Update

We are issuing this statement in order to inform parties interested in PASCAL’s Shared Library System Platform initiative that the process is continuing to move forward.

On October 25th, the PASCAL Board of Directors unanimously voted to launch the next phase in the initiative.   This vote followed a series of intensive conversations among members based on a working group report that highlighted conclusions drawn from the recently conducted Request for Information. The working group concluded that information provided by responding vendors demonstrated that “a Next Generation LSP can assist PASCAL in achieving our goals and lay the groundwork for increased collaboration throughout the consortium.”

The general membership reviewed this decision at its fall meeting on December 2nd .

Now, membership will intensify its consideration of the underlying purpose as well as the technical, financial, organizational and workflow parameters for a Next Generation LSP.   Our next anticipated benchmark will be an update by various PASCAL working groups to members in late February 2017, with a final decision on issuing an RFP to be made shortly there-after.

We will continue to issue updates as warranted by our progress.

Message from PASCAL Board

Library Services Protal Request for Information (Spring/Summer 2016)

PASCAL will be conducting a Request for Information for a Library Services Platform statewide initiative.

On January 20, 2016, the PASCAL Board of Directors voted to form a Library Services Platform Leadership Team charged with providing oversight for the RFI and any subsequent planning, procurement and implementation processes.  The team is currently being put together.  The team will communicate its guidelines for the process both to member libraries and potential vendors.

The guidelines that will be forthcoming are a means to ensure that all vendors have a fair opportunity to present their product and that there is not a compromise of integrity of the requirements or procurement process.

Once in place, communications regarding statewide LSP solutions should adhere to the process established by the Leadership Team.
