In 2019, PASCAL joined the Open Education Network (OEN), an alliance of higher education institutions and consortia partners committed to improving access, affordability, and academic success through the use of open textbooks. PASCAL’s consortial OEN membership allows us to provide member libraries with tools and services that will assist them in building sustainable open textbook programs on their campuses.
Institutional Membership
PASCAL members have the option to join OEN as a direct institutional member for a fraction of the institutional membership cost. Individual members work directly with OEN staff to incorporate the OEN model at their institutions. Allied membership includes:

Certificate in OER Librarianship
PASCAL members receive discounted registration some fee-based programs, including the OEN’s Certificate in OER Librarianship Program, a structured and supportive professional development opportunity preparing librarians to champion open education. NOTE: Additional financial assistance and scholarships for the Certificate in OER Librarianship may be available from the OEN for resource-limited Institutions and librarians who identify as BIPOC.
PASCAL members can participate in the OEN’s annual community gathering at no cost.
Open Textbook Library
OEN supports the Open Textbook Library--a comprehensive catalog of over 1400 open textbooks, many of which are reviewed by faculty. All materials in the Open Textbook Library are licensed by authors and publishers to be freely used and adapted so they can be downloaded, edited, and distributed at no cost.
