PASCAL is holding an election May 12-23, 2025 to fill three seats on the Shared LSP Steering Committee:
Voting will be conducted online, May 12-23, 2025. All SLSP participating libraries will have one vote and votes will be cast by the Library Representative for each institution. A link to the online ballot will be emailed to all Library Representatives on Monday, May 12, 2025.
The nominating process and elections are supervised by the Board’s Program Steering Committee. The results of the election will be announced no later than May 30, 2025.
The slate of candidates for the three open seats is available below.
There is one candidate for the Four-Year Public seat:
Angela Flenner is the Acquisitions & Resource Management Coordinator at the College of Charleston Libraries. She earned her Master’s in Library & Information Science from the University of South Carolina in 2008, and prior to that, a B.A. in History and Business Administration from Presbyterian College and an M.S. in Historic Preservation from Clemson/College of Charleston. She has worked at the College of Charleston since 2009, beginning in the digital library and moving into Systems in 2011, where she administered Millennium, Encore, and EBSCO Discover Service until the statewide migration to Alma and Primo in 2020. In addition to her work administering Alma, she supervises the Acquisitions & Resource Management unit of the library, including serving on the Collection Development Committee, contributing to purchasing and cancellation decisions, and overseeing usage statistics loading and reporting.
There is one candidate for the Research seat:
Joshua (Josh) Garris serves as the Director of Library and Information Technology at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. With over 25 years of experience in academic libraries, Josh has cultivated expertise across a broad spectrum of roles, including Access Services, Research and Instruction, and Library Services Platform Administration. His career reflects a deep commitment to enhancing library systems and delivering exceptional resources to students, faculty, and researchers. Outside of his professional life, Josh enjoys exploring the world of culinary delights and beverages, indulging in his passion for travel, and connecting with friends through engaging social activities. His dynamic blend of technical acumen, interpersonal skills, and genuine enthusiasm for discovery underscores both his contributions to the academic library community and his approach to life.
There is one candidate for the Special Libraries seat:
Erick Lemon serves as the Director of Digital Strategies and Innovation at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Libraries. With over 25 years of experience in information technology and academic leadership, Erick has consistently demonstrated a commitment to advancing innovative solutions in healthcare education, research, and digital systems. Erick earned his Master's degree in Information Technology from Kennesaw State University, complementing a Bachelor's degree in Technology Support and Training Management from the University of South Carolina and an Associate's degree in Computer Technology Networking Information Systems from Trident Technical College. Since 2018, Erick has reshaped MUSC Libraries' IT infrastructure, leading the integration of cutting-edge technologies to enhance the institution's teaching, learning, research, and clinical missions. His leadership spans the development of user-friendly library systems, managing dual-platform environments, overseeing public computing infrastructure, and spearheading the implementation of innovative digital strategies. He is also instrumental in managing the DREAM Studio (Design, Research, Education, and Additive Manufacturing), a makerspace fostering collaboration in 3D printing, VR, and healthcare technology. Erick's dedication to advancing technology extends beyond MUSC. He has held pivotal roles at Augusta University, where he contributed to major IT initiatives, including enterprise system implementations and academic technology support. His expertise also includes facilitating professional workshops, contributing to scholarly publications, and presenting at national and international conferences on topics such as AI in education, virtual reality, and 3D printing applications in healthcare. As Principal Investigator for a $20,000 outreach grant, Erick leads efforts to improve accessibility and adaptive technology for the Coastal Center, driving statewide initiatives in care and facility enhancement. He actively participates in professional organizations, including the American Library Association (ALA) and Educause, and serves on several advisory and innovation committees.
