PASCAL is the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries, a consortium of South Carolina's academic libraries together with their parent institutions and state agency partners. PASCAL fosters cooperation on a broad range of issues including shared licensing of electronic resources, universal borrowing, ILS hosting, and affordable learning.
PASCAL member libraries adopted a statement condemning racism and violence at the General membership meeting on June 11th. The statement is important, but it will simply be words on a screen without actions supporting the promise to “use our voices and our resources” to confront the deep problems it identifies. We will use the statement as a point of departure for taking actions and building partnerships within the consortium and with others in our South Carolina library and academic communities to redeem this commitment.
Statement Condemning Racism and Violence
Approved by the PASCAL Membership, June 11, 2020
PASCAL, the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries, stands with our colleagues, member institutions’ faculty, staff, and students who are suffering under racial inequality, and all people of conscience across the country, in condemning violence against Black people and People of Color. In doing so we wholeheartedly endorse the May 28 Black Caucus of The American Library Association’s Statement Condemning Increased Violence and Racism Towards Black Americans and People of Color.
Through our collaboration we will continue to ensure a supportive, information network, creating resource equity for students, faculty, and staff at every member institution of higher learning in South Carolina and will promote a culture of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. We will use our voices, and our resources, to encourage all students, faculty, and staff to recognize and address deep and systemic patterns of racism and oppression to build a community that upholds the inherent worth of all individuals.

PASCAL Delivers Services Now Available at Most Participating Libraries
PASCAL Delivers service has resumed at most participating libraries. Our primary goal as we resume services is staff and patron safety. Please contact your home library for information on available services at your campus.
Impacts on Services due to COVID-19:
Due to campus restrictions at most institutions, Pick-up Anywhere and Visiting Patron services will not be available for the Fall 2020 semester.
To reduce the spread of COVID-19 and protect users, some delivery and processing procedures have changed. PASCAL libraries are making every effort to fulfill the community’s needs during this time; however, items will take longer to arrive and, in some cases, may be inaccessible. Please allow 5-7 business days for delivery to your home library. Thank you for your patience!
