Primo VE End-User LibGuide - PASCAL Template

This LibGuide was developed by the PASCAL Discovery, Reference, and User Experience Working Group, with the support of ChatGPT, a language model created by OpenAI.

Logging In

Signing in to the library catalog allows you access to electronic resources like articles and ebooks, as well as access to request items from your library. It also allows you to pin and save items for later access and to export search results. If you aren't signed in, you'll see a yellow banner across the top of your page:

Follow these steps to sign in to your account.

  1. Click "Sign In" in the upper right hand corner of the page.
  2. Sign in with your institutional credentials. This is usually a ".edu" email address and a password.
  3. If you don't have institutional credentials, talk to your library staff about creating a community borrower account!

Viewing Your Favorites

To return to items or searches, just click the push pin icon by your name in the top right-hand corner of your screen, or click on your name and then on My Favorites.

The "My Favorites" section of the library catalog has three sections: Saved Records (pinned search results), Saved Searches, and Search History.

Saved Records

These are the individual search results that you have "pinned", or saved, for later. On the right-hand side, you can see a list of all the tags you've applied to these records. You can edit these tags, remove them, or add more tags by clicking on the pencil icon. Click the pencil icon on a single record to change tags on just that record, or select multiple records and click the pencil icon at the top of the section to edit tags on a group of results.

Saved Records - Sharing Options

Click the ellipses ("...") at the top of the section to see your options for sharing or exporting your saved search results.

Search History

In the library catalog, your search history is automatically saved in My Favorites. This can be helpful if you ever want to pick up where you left off with a previous search. If you'd like to turn off saving your search history, ask your library staff for help.

My Favorites on Mobile

Selecting Multiple Results

On a mobile device, the user interface is slightly different in the library catalog. For example, if you'd like to select multiple search results to save them to your favorites or to share them, you'll need to tap the checkbox icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen, just below the search box. If you can't see the icon, scroll up or down to move any forefront displaying images out of the way.

Selecting Multiple Results

After scrolling down, the checkbox icon is visible. Tap this icon to see the checkbox on each search result and then select the results you'd like to save or share.

Viewing Tags in My Favorites

When viewing saved records in the library catalog, click the funnel icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen to see a list of the tags you've applied to your saved search results. Selecting one or more of these tags and then tapping "CLOSE" at the bottom of the screen will filter your view to results with the selected tags only.

Viewing Tags in My Favorites

As before, you may need to scroll up or down in order to see the list of tags.

Note that you can also change the sort order once you've scrolled to see the full list of tags. Changing the sort order here will change the sort order of your saved search results.

Tap "CLOSE" when you are satisfied.
