PASCAL Board of Directors Welcomes New and Returning Members

An election to fill five open seats on the PASCAL Board of Directors took place May 19-30, 2025. As the key governing and policy-making body, the Board oversees PASCAL programs, finances, and staff. The new and re-elected members were announced at the General Membership Meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2025.

The Board welcomes the following newly elected and returning board members:

  • John Barnett, USC Upstate, Public, At-Large, 2025 – 2027*
  • Melvin Davis, Coastal Carolina University, Public 4-Year, 2025 – 2028
  • Heather Heckman, University of South Carolina, Research, 2025 – 2028
  • Katie Miller, Aiken Technical College, Public Technical College, 2025 – 2028
  • Laurel Whisler, Columbia College, Independent Institution, 2025 – 2028

*Two-year term to fill vacant seat

The election process was overseen by the Board’s Nominating and Elections Committee, comprising Chris Cox, Chair, (Clemson University), Reid Austin (Newberry College), and Lishu Yin (South Carolina Commission on Higher Education). Results of the election were verified by Ms. Yin, the Ex Officio member.  

Congratulations to the new and returning board members. We extend our gratitude to all the candidates for their willingness to serve and to everyone who participated in the election.
