PASCAL Delivers Service Update for 2024 Holiday Break

by Ellan Jenkinson on 2024-12-13T09:56:15-05:00 in PASCAL Delivers, PASCAL Members, PASCAL News | 0 Comments

PASCAL Delivers service will not be suspended during the 2024 holiday break. Thanks to recent improvements in processes and resources – including the transition to FedEx for faster delivery, Lender of Last Resort configurations, and shared training and documentation – institutions can now manage request workflows more efficiently and effectively.  As a result, suspending the service for all institutions is no longer necessary.

During the holiday period, requests will continue to route through the rotas as usual. Library staff can determine whether to reset rotas or fill requests via OCLC when the spring semester begins in January.  Documentation on Resubmitting Requests After a Holiday Break can be found on the PASCAL Delivers Print and PASCAL Delivers Digital pages of the PASCAL Member website (password required.)

FedEx courier service cannot be suspended over the holiday break. To avoid delivery issues, we recommend that you:

  • Communicate with your FedEx driver in advance to notify them of your library’s holiday schedule and closures.
  • Post a visible sign at your library’s delivery point to notify drivers of closures.

To inform patrons, a banner alert will be added to all Primo VE environments on Monday, December 16th, notifying them of potential delays in request processing. Please ensure this banner remains in place until it is removed by PASCAL staff on January 6th.

If you have any questions, please submit a Support Request or contact Maggie Mason Smith.
