We are excited to announce a second round of SCALE Affordable Learning Grants. The goal of the grant program is to expand the availability of course materials that are free of cost to our students by providing funds to member institutions to support approaches they deem most effective for their individual campus. SCALE Affordable Learning Grants are designed to support PASCAL member institutions in the following efforts:
PASCAL launched its grant program in 2020 as a pilot program to support institutions’ efforts to expand awareness and adoption of low or no-cost course materials. The pilot was a success, with PASCAL awarding $19,000 to affordable learning projects at eight member institutions in the first round of grants. The 2020 grant recipients presented on their projects and the outcomes at the 2021 PASCAL Town Hall.
Beginning March 14th, PASCAL will begin accepting applications for the second round of grants. Applications are due by April 29, 2022. A webinar will be held via Zoom on March 1 at 1pm to provide an overview of the grants program and to give members an opportunity to ask any questions about the application process. Those interested in applying are also encouraged to review the final reports and products from the 2020 Grant Awardees for ideas and examples.
More information about the SCALE Affordable Learning Grants program is available on the SCALE website.
About PASCAL’s SCALE (South Carolina Affordable Learning) Initiative:
In 2017, PASCAL launched South Carolina Affordable Learning (SCALE), a statewide initiative that seeks to reduce the overall cost of higher education for students by promoting the use of quality low-cost and no-cost learning materials. SCALE programs have included the Professors for Affordable Learning award, webinars and workshops for librarians and faculty throughout South Carolina, and the SCALE Affordable Learning Grant Program.
